B Let's understand

India is the world's largest democracy, operating under the supreme legal framework of the Constitution of India. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar led the drafting committee. The Constitution came into effect on 26th January 1950, celebrated every year as Republic Day. Our democratic governance functions through three distinct branches to ensure checks and balances: 1) Legislature (Parliament โ€” Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha): Makes laws and approves national budgets. 2) Executive (President, Prime Minister, and Council of Ministers): Implements and executes the laws. 3) Judiciary (Supreme Court and High Courts): Protects the Constitution, interprets laws, and ensures justice. Every citizen enjoys six Fundamental Rights (Right to Equality, Freedom, Protection from Exploitation, Freedom of Religion, Cultural & Educational Rights, and Constitutional Remedies) and is expected to uphold eleven Fundamental Duties (such as respecting the national flag, protecting public property, and caring for the environment).

C See it step by step

Example 1: What is Universal Adult Suffrage and why is it vital in a democracy?
  1. Step 1: Universal Adult Suffrage gives every Indian citizen aged 18 or above the right to cast one vote in elections.
  2. Step 2: No person can be denied voting based on religion, gender, caste, wealth, or education.
  3. Step 3: This guarantees that leaders are democratically elected by the will of all citizens.
Example 2: How does the Judiciary maintain fairness in a democracy?
  1. Step 1: The Judiciary is independent of both the Legislature and the Executive.
  2. Step 2: If a law or government action violates citizens' Fundamental Rights, citizens can approach courts.
  3. Step 3: The Supreme Court can strike down unconstitutional orders and uphold justice.
