"Discover eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin — our 5 superhero senses."
A Today you'll learn
- Identify main body parts: head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands, and legs
- Name the five sense organs and describe what each sense does
- Appreciate how our senses keep us safe and help us learn
B Let's understand
Sight
Sound
Smell
Taste
Touch
Our body is wondrous and unique! We use our body parts every day: legs to run, hands to draw and hold things, and our head to think. We also have five special sense organs that help us experience the world. Our eyes let us see bright colours and shapes. Our ears let us hear music and bird songs. Our nose lets us smell sweet flowers and fresh food. Our tongue lets us taste sweet, sour, and salty flavours. And our skin covers our entire body to let us feel hot, cold, soft, and rough things. Together, the five senses protect us and help us explore!
C See it step by step
- The tongue tastes the sweet flavour of the ice cream.
- The skin on the lips and tongue feels that the ice cream is cold.
- So the tongue (taste) and skin (touch/feeling) work together.
- Our ears hear the honking horn of an approaching car or bicycle bell.
- This alerts us to stop or step onto the sidewalk safely.
