Our Neighbourhood and Helpers
"Recognise community helpers: doctor, teacher, police officer, postman, and sweeper."
A Today you'll learn
- Understand what a neighbourhood is and identify places around our home
- Recognise community helpers: doctor, nurse, teacher, police officer, firefighter, sweeper
- Appreciate how community helpers make our life safe, healthy, and comfortable
B Let's understand
The area around our home and the people who live near us make up our neighbourhood. A good neighbourhood has useful places like a grocery market, a park, a hospital, a post office, and a police station. Many special people work every day to help us live safely and happily — they are called community helpers! A doctor cures us when we are ill. A nurse cares for patients. A police officer keeps our streets safe. A firefighter bravely puts out fires. A teacher teaches us. And sanitation workers (sweepers) keep our roads and drains clean.
C See it step by step
- Call the fire brigade immediately.
- Brave firefighters arrive in red fire engines with water hoses and ladders to put out the fire safely.
- They wake up early every single morning to sweep streets and clear garbage bins.
- Without them, our neighbourhood would become dirty, smelly, and full of diseases.
